The lawyers at Heygood, Orr & Pearson have represented thousands of vehicle owners across the United States in a number of automotive litigation cases over the past several years.
Our Automotive Litigation Claims
Heygood, Orr & Pearson represents about about 1,400 2017–2022 Chevy Bolt EV and EUV vehicle owners in individual claims against GM and Chevrolet. These lawsuits allege that the vehicles are at risk of fire due to defective high-voltage battery systems and seek compensation for owners and lessees affected by this defect.
One of our firm’s partners, Michael Heygood, was appointed to the federal Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee that helped secure a class action settlement of over $10 billion for Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche vehicle owners as part of the federal Volkswagen “Dieselgate” litigation. These lawsuits involved allegations that Volkswagen installed “defeat devices” on its “clean diesel” vehicles in order to evade federal emissions standards.
Heygood Orr & Pearson also represented approximately 2,000 VW, Audi, and Porsche “Clean” diesel vehicle owners who chose to opt out of the nationwide Dieselgate settlement and have their cases handled individually.
Other Automotive & Vehicle Emissions Cases
Heygood Orr & Pearson has also handled claims connected with the General Motors Duramax litigation. These lawsuits involved allegations that GM sold hundreds of thousands of GMC and Chevrolet diesel trucks that are incompatible with U.S. diesel fuels, causing damage to the fuel system and engines of these vehicles that can lead to total engine failure.
Our law firm also filed a lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler and its parts suppliers on behalf of owners of Dodge RAM and Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel trucks whose vehicles were fraudulently equipped with emissions cheating software.
Heygood, Orr & Pearson was involved in the litigation involving similar emissions cheating claims against Mercedes Benz involving its BlueTEC “clean diesel” vehicles.
Our firm is also active in the Ford DPS6 transmission litigation, which accused Ford of hiding defects in some Ford Fiesta, Focus, and other vehicles with defective DPS6 clutch or Powershift transmission, which could lead to transmission or engine failure.
